The much-lauded lasagna steals the show, earning rave reviews from diners like Rachel Russell-Clark, who described it as "the star of the show." Generously portioned and layered with rich flavors, it’s a dish that’s best enjoyed with a loved one. But don’t overlook their equally impressive gnocchi, which Salima Jones declared to be "the most delicious" she's ever had, thoughtfully crafted with Stracchino, Broccoli Rabe, crispy garlic, and sharp provolone—truly a feast for the senses.

Equally noteworthy are the exceptional appetizers, including a crispy, savory calamari paired with pepperoni rice, which Katie McCormick found surprisingly delightful. The chrysanthemum salad also comes highly recommended, balancing freshness and flavor to perfectly complement the richness of the main courses.

The dining experience at Don Angie transcends typical restaurant visits. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, making it an excellent backdrop for creating memorable moments. We took all of the recommendations from our wonderful waiter and wowwww was this place worth the hype! The lasagna of course was the star of the show but I was most impressed with the sweet potato’s! A definite must visit, get in line at 3:30pm and put your name in, definitely worth it!

I was able to get a lunch reservation a week in advance on OpenTable and it was worth it! Everything was delicious and lived up to expectations. We ordered the chrysanthemum salad, calamari w/pepperoni rice, caramelle pasta, and the lasagna to share and everything was beyond expectations. The calamari really surprised us, but the salad is a must order. The lasagna is delicious and the portions are huge. The bread it is served with is amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant as “worth it” if you’re trying to get a reservation: keep trying!

Absolutely stellar Italian spot in NYC. The hype is alive here for a good reason. The lasagna for 2 is amazing if you have stomach space, but you would be hard pressed to find a miss. Focaccia is very dense, but quite good. Just not as useful for mopping up sauce as I hoped.

We truly stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and had no idea it was such a sought-after spot in NYC! My dear friend was in town to celebrate her birthday. We had three other restaurants in mind in the West Village, but each one had already closed its kitchen. We ran across the street into this place and asked if they were still serving food. We even had to ask the host what kind of food it was and the name of the restaurant! Thankfully, two guests at the bar had just finished, and the friendly host quickly cleaned the spot so we could sit. From the moment we sat down, we had the most memorable experience. Our bartenders, Dylan and Nick made us feel completely at home. Dylan gave us fantastic recommendations, including a secret menu item and surprised us with custom cocktails. Later, Nick took over, and it was so much fun chatting with him and Dennis throughout our meal. We shared several incredible dishes: the famous Chrysanthemum Salad, Spiced Orata alla Griglia, Sourdough Pesto Pasta, and Japanese Sweet Potatoes. And if you can snag a few pieces of the bread that comes with the famous lasagna, it’s absolutely orgasmic and perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce! We barely had room for dessert, but the Black Cocoa Tiramisu was worth every bite. I don’t usually choose Italian restaurants, but this one completely exceeded both our expectations — the flavors, presentation, and textures were phenomenal. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Thank you to Dylan, Nick, Dennis, and the entire team on 11/04/25 for making Misha’s birthday extra special. As long as I’m lucky enough to snag a seat again, I can’t wait to come back!

We ate the MOST delicious gnocchi I have ever eaten here! It’s listed on the menu as Stracchino Gnocchi: Broccoli Rabe, Crispy Garlic, Sharp Provolone. Although we didn’t order it, the stuffed garlic flatbread ordered by other people sat at the bar looked and smelt really appetising. All the food we saw other people order looked amazing. Sat at the bar to have a glass of wine & something to eat after a very busy day in the city. Highly recommend.

I’ve been meaning to eat at Don Angie since they opened in 2018 or 2019, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Getting a reservation is tricky but doable — they open a week in advance at 9 AM, and spots go within seconds. If you want a table for Friday or Saturday, check the same day the week before, refresh right at 9, and make sure you’re logged into OpenTable with a credit card on file. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting, perfect for a date or a small group. It’s lively and a little loud, but in a fun way. I chatted with the table next to me for recommendations and ended up trying several of their favorites. They had the same sentiment about the lasagna as me, it was the only dish that remained in their table and they didn’t finish. Which says a lot. The infamous lasagna was beautifully made and worth trying once, as its really easy to share, but I personally wish the sauce was better balanced, had more meat and less tomato sauce. It’s flavorful but a lacks meat as in many restaurants, heavy on the cheese and sauce for my taste. Everything else we ordered was excellent: the Spiced Orata alla Griglia was perfectly cooked and full of flavor; the Japanese Sweet Potatoes were fluffy with a creamy sauce; the Scallop Crudo and Pineapple & Coppa were light, refreshing, and full of layered flavor; and the Stuffed Garlic Flatbread resembles a naan, was a must-order — soft, warm, and so good we ordered two. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisu and Mochi. Both were about 3.5 stars for me. The tiramisu had a crunchy filo-like pastry layer and more sponge than mascarpone, which threw off the balance — I prefer a creamier, classic version. The mochi wasn’t my favorite either; it felt out of place on an otherwise Italian-focused menu. I think Don Angie could improve their dessert selection overall. Still, I’d definitely come back — the food (especially the starters and mains) was incredible, the space is cozy and stylish, and the whole experience felt like a true New York gem.

Don Angie absolutely lived up to the hype. We came at opening on a weekday and were able to snag bar seats right away. The compact menu is full of creative Italian dishes, and everything we tried was outstanding - the Tonnato Vitello combined veal tartare and tuna carpaccio in a well balanced and savory bite. For pastas, the Sorpresine with Smoked Mussels was very umami, while the Buffalo Milk Caramelle with black sesame and candied kumquats was refreshingly bright. Even the Japanese sweet potato side was a highlight - beautifully crisp and fragrant. Every dish felt intentional and creative, and I can see why this spot gets so much love. Can’t wait to return to try their signature lasagna next time.
